Financial Aid For Civil Engineering and Construction Studies

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE:   FEBRUARY 28, 2025

Undergraduate Scholarship

The CAWV Scholarship Foundation offers scholarships to sophomores, juniors, and seniors enrolled in civil engineering or a construction-related four-year degree program in a West Virginia college or university.

Eligible schools include:

  • West Virginia University
  • West Virginia University Institute of Technology
  • Fairmont State University
  • Bluefield State University
  • Marshall University
Top Award
$7,500

Additional awards of varying amounts are awarded to other applicants chosen by the Scholarship Foundation.

West Virginia residents attending out of state schools offering a construction related curriculum not available in West Virginia are also eligible.

Evaluation Criteria

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of the following:

  • Academic performance
  • Extracurricular activities
  • Employment experience
  • Financial need
  • Demonstrated interest in a construction industry career
Finalists are selected in March and will be scheduled for an in-person interview with the CAWV Scholarship Board at the CAWV headquarters in Charleston.

Applications

Applications open annually on January 1st. Students may obtain an application through their school’s engineering department, on the CAWV website, or by contacting Pat McDonald at pmcdonald@cawv.org. Students may also apply online by clicking the "Get Started" button below.

Deadline

A completed copy of the application, transcript, letter of recommendation from a faculty member, and a personal cover letter stating your construction experience, qualifications, extracurricular activities, and career goals must be received by CAWV by February 28, 2025.
